Engineering process of wire production includes series of typical operations which are repeated from 1 up to 3 times depending on the ordered diameter of wire:
heat treatment of metal,
preparation of metal surface for drawing,
drawing on the given diameter.
Additional operations — coatication of different coatings or heat treatment — are introduced in the engineering process of wire production for special properties of wire.
The heat treatment of wire is performed in kilns with low-oxidation heating. For fire scale pulling-off solutions of sulphuric and hydrochloric acids are used. Borax, phosphate salts, lime carbonate and copper is used as a sublubricating layer.
The wiredrawing is carried out on the mills with blast cooling of draw rings and drums that ensures high strength and plastic properties of metal. Use of modern lubricants ensures specific properties of wire according to the customers' requests: high corrosion stability, low amount of lubrication on the surface, high adhesion to different materials and so on. Drawing equipment is systematically renewed and equipped by additional facilities for internal voltage pulling-off.
Zinc coating is applied by the method of wire dipping in the melt and allows to produce wire with different thickness of coating. Use of special cleaning materials and emulsions makes smooth and bright zinc coating protected from corrosion for a long term.
Wire is delivered to the consumer in 5 — 180 kg bundles, in 200 — 1000 kg coils, in 200 — 800 kg “rosetta” type bundles, in BS 60 type reels.
